WOW! I haven't updated anything for nearly 3 months! But that doesn't mean I haven't been busy!

I've tried to put these in the best order possible...

Starting drawing the oldies that seemed to swarm and stare at the barges. I believe the correct term for them is 'Gangooglers'...or something similar. May develop these odd little creatures more...

The day previous I couldn't get much done as I was needed, so this was more of an illustrated command...

Experimenting with acrylics and matching words, typography and illustrations. This is the first line of a poem I devised, hopefully to become a bigger illustrated piece...

I coloured my Max (Where the Wild Things Are) illustration that I used for my t-shirt prints. Apologies for the scan line, had to scan it in 2 sections because it was too big to scan in one go...

 And finally, 'Mar ol mon from th' Black Countray' (My Dad from the black Country). This is based on my Dad. As a note he looks nothing like this but it's my perception of our roots in the Black Country. I am very proud of the Black Country history, people and especially accent!

Phew! That was a lot. But enough for now :)

Haven't posted in a while because unfortunately, today is the last day i'll be at university until September. Been moving out of my halls of residence and it's been a pain with the amount of clothes I have and the amount of stuff I use for my work!


Haven't been able to scan in things for a while, mainly because i've been working on so many things in different things! So this is what I can find on my computer...

24TH JUNE: T-shirt printing.
I spent 7 solid hours printing 8 one off t-shirts. This excludes the time it took to organise and prepare the silk screen. Here are my best ones...

MAY-JUNE- Carving a Giant.

I have been doing some work for the epic guys in a local band, Carving a Giant (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Carving-a-Giant-UK/182529221770468). They wanted album art work and some t-shirt designs. The t-shirt design is taking a while because I'm not happy with the 'failed' outcomes. The main t-shirt idea is on it's way now though!

MAY-JUNE- Media Experimentation.

I'm trying to be more free with my media. Now Summer is here, I can go nuts!

Self-set 90 minute drawing challenge. I wanted to see how quick I could be to analyse my own work and improve it. Pencil on A5 watercolour postcards.

Nearly there...

Unfortunately, it is nearly the end of my first year at university.
This however, doesn't mean I have less work to do. I have this delayed post to show that!

Here are some sketches I did whilst on the family Easter holiday to Turkey.

At the airport and on the plane.

Really happy with this! Long time since I managed to keep my patience long enough to do a realistic portrait!

From imagination. I love him! Although I want to redo his arm, it's not chubby enough.

Another digital colour experiment. Used my friend's graphics tablet to practice with.

I was determined to work whilst on holiday because, well, I wanted to!
I've been so used to constantly thinking and drawing over this past year it's now a habit...a habit that I'll love forever! :)


On the animation front, i am but a few hours away from completing my piece!
Again, my ideas changed but this was due to last minute difficulties.
In the end, I have tried stop motion, and a pretty tricky kind too! It's come out wonderful for my first serious attempt at stop motion and I hope to upload the full animation soon.

The animation is called 'Reuben'. It is a slightly surreal portrayal of the struggles of a neglected child. It sees how a child in this situation may feel and perceive their loneliness and how easy it is to show that child that they can be loved.

In time, I would love to re-create it and make it better, perhaps another summer project?!

(NOTE: He turned out A LOT bigger than first planned, making the challenge more difficult! Approximately stands about 3 foot, possibly more!)

Doing this animation and puppet making has given me an enormous boost in creative moral! I feel like I really achieved something great with what little time I had to work with. I've explored a whole new line of creativity that I would really like to continue with.

I couldn't sleep very well last night so i mucked about with digital colouring again.

Wow! Once again, it's been a while since I last blogged.
However, I do have a lot of new stuff to make up for it!

Firstly, observational drawing...
I've found colour again! Since I began my course in September, I felt like I had left colour on the back burner while I concentrated on style and form. Thankfully, I think that this has paid off. So I've started re-introducing watercolours back into my work...

Secondly, STYLE REVELATION!
I don't know where it came from! But it's come at a good time in my life :)
Obviously train journeys and London tube stations hold more inspiration than they first perceived to have

It has to be explored! Using my two favourite sketches, I added some colour either to highlight key aspects or to brighten up the whole piece.
