About Me

My photo
I am a Third Year Illustration student. I like to set goals high and allow myself to be influenced by the beauties of the world around me. I am not specific in terms of genre or purpose, I like the challenge!

It's the FINAL COUNTDOWN!

Yes! Christmas is nearly here and so is the deadline for most of my work this term (sad face).
I can't post up most of the things i've been working on because they're not finished to a particular standard OR they're presents for people who look at this blog!

However, my Bestiary (attempt 2) storyboard is going well and after some debate, here are my two characters...
My ADORABLE little bunny rabbit. If you don't go 'awww', there's something wrong with you.
More importantly...DO NOT upset it!
-Done in rollerpoint and water colour

My 'Occult' Horse (sorry for landscape). Basically, he gets more than he bargained for!

-Done in water-souluable pen

Right, NEED sleep! Hopefully I'll have more to upload soon :)

Look alive Sunshine!

Today is going to be MENTAL and my head and knees really don't feel up for it :(

To to make me a bit better, this is what i've been up to...

This lovely lady is now finished and housed in her frame. May have to take it back out to tidy up some white outlines and I need to sign it with the date.

I just can't get enough of turning Oli Sykes (Bring me the Horizon) into a zombie! Even though it's old, I'll have to upload my old version because I STILL love it.

A sneak-peak at what my new bestiary storyboard has in store. My initial plan was a brilliant idea but hard to cut the story short whilst keeping the same effect. All i'm saying is 'HAPPY TREE FRIENDS' inspired so watch out!

And finally, work space log. I've made it a little tidier than what it was and it is now equipped with a hat, coat and scarf stand :)

Right, here goes a busy day...

Hail! I have found my phone cable!

Apologies for not putting up anything for ages, I lost my phone cable to get the photos off my phone. I just found it in the most obvious place so I won't tell you because well, it was pure idiocity!

So this is going to be a nice little upload-fest of my favourite things over this past week...
I hope he doesn't see this, but this is a picture in progress for a friend for his birthday. Influenced by the wonderful J. Scott Campbell

A lovely, simple narrative i did about a chap making a cup of tea. Approximately five speech bubbles, three of them coming from a dog barking.

The rest of my Example 'Hooligans' narrative experiment. I really like this fluid, playful style of drawing.

Some horse sketches to fill up my final page in my bestiary sketchbook. I'm really happy with them and my experiment with using lines for shading

And finally, my tattooed lady has been fully 'inked'. Modelled on Scarlett Johanson's D&G adverts. The corset is causing me problems i don't want it to draw attention away from her body art. I must admit, I love her <3

9:30pm already! best start on something else before I call it a night.

1 project down, 3 to go!

Woop woop! Completed one of my 5 ongoing projects today! One less thing to worry about.
Been very busy drawing the background for my animation piece today and it was quite awkward to take a picture of so, no new pics up for today :(

May put up something later on this evening after I've finished a short narrative story board for my Authorship, should take too long so I better get back to it!

Also, keep a look out for some sneak peeks of pictures that I am doing for friends and family!

Toodle-pip!

Make my day,Punk!

Today's been quite a nice day of doing a little Christmas present for a relative and doing some character designs for my new animation project.

I took the idea from a cartoon I found (can't remember the name of the artist) the relative loves Alice in Wonderland like me and I hope they'll like it.

This snarling little fellow is one of the characters out of the story Blacksmith at the Bridge of Bones by Ben Haggarty. It's a very complicated story, you really have to hear Ben tell it to understand (he's a professional storyteller). Anyway, turns out in the story that this master Blacksmith is some sort of evil Otter who is trying to marry off the hero to his serpent daughter.
Here's the Blacksmith in his otter form...

Sorry about the delay...

Sorry for the delay I've been very busy with recreational time and organising Christmas and hairdresser appointments.
I've done a lot of animal sketches for my bestiary project (which i'm aiming to complete this week!) but my fav piece from this week has to be this quaint little dear...

She's my first character for my 'Hooligans' piece.

I promise I'll make up for the lost posts over this next week.

Back to drawing, toodle-pip.

Busy busy

Busy weekend catching up with family and friends, but I managed to do this on the train going to and coming back from Cardiff.

Originated from my woodcut design (as it's easy to see) but now i'm thinking about putting this pretty little face into a narrative.

Also thinking of photoshopping this baby for one of my friend's Christmas present (but shhhhh!).

VERY busy day...

Haven't stopped working today.
My fault really, i wanted to try something new... in other words bite off more than I could chew!
Had a hand at woodcut printing today. Didn't get round to actually printing but that may be done on Monday.

Until then, here was the initial design. Doesn't look EXACTLY like the woodcut but this was just an idea and it was calling me to run with it.
Can see this becoming a big piece!

I thought i'd put this picture in too! My workspace in the Illustration Studio.
My aim is to create the "perfect" working wall, so trying as much as possible NOT to remove anything permanently, then see at the end of the year what I end up with.
I'll update this every-so often just to show you.

Off to carry on with a design for a Gum Arabic idea....and to find out where this cold draft is coming from!

Getting started

Big step for me...my first blog!
it's not much, just something to make sure that this works.

While I'm here though, I will share this with you...

This was a page out of my personal sketchbook from today. I'm begining to apply references, history and feelings of objects and artefacts that I studied when I went to the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford.
I think I will be making several more trips there soon, it's a beautiful place and I haven't seen all the floors!

Ta ta for now, need to carry on with my personal project characters!
