About Me

My photo
I am a Third Year Illustration student. I like to set goals high and allow myself to be influenced by the beauties of the world around me. I am not specific in terms of genre or purpose, I like the challenge!

Lately...

So second year is finished. Done. Dusted.

The good news is I can begin to concentrate on my big final year projects.
The bad news is I will sadly have to say goodbye to some of my dear fellow illustrators from the current final year.

Lately I've just had a wind-down when it comes to drawing.
Here's some examples of my pencil characters...

Also, I've finally come up with a substantial short comic plot. I'm keeping it simple and in my comfort zone to begin with and then I prepare to use it as a starting block to produce more experimental work in my final year.

This is Dixon and Margot Corse.

Not giving too much away yet but from now on all work related to them will be on my FMP blog!

Toodle-pip for now!

Even MORE tablet work...

Getting much more confident using the tablet now! Very proud of my progress and looking forward to what I feel I can experiment with next.

Took about 5 minutes from source imagery...

Done with no source imagery more-or-less...

Procrastinate with a purpose...

My lengths to hinder the completion of a bibliography have resulted in doing experimentation work for my publication project.
Here is an initial design as to what the front cover of my book may look like...

Now my wonderful housemate has made cheesecake so i'm off to devour it!

Quick sketch of an ambulance and a rather melancholy character...

Fonzy just gave up being cool...

Study idea for possible illustrated poem and testing out my new funky pencil crayon...

It's funny how many guys can fit this character...

Product of today...

Been nice and busy today progressing with the style I came up with yesterday evening. Lots of fun and it's good for exploring more 'fashion aware' pieces of illustration (I HATE THE TERM FASHION ILLUSTRATION WITH A FLORAL PRINT PASSION!).
Girls- source images of myself.

Boys- source images from The Sunday Times Style Magazine (18/03/2012)

Work has also been updated on my research project too.

Today...

Been studying a different style of illustrator today and it's been really beneficial. See my Second/Third Year research project the pages....

Also, I went to a fantastic evening of local music at the Francis Close Hall Chapel. Some really talented musicians...and some brilliant male 'hipsters' for me to prey on and target to draw.
Still revelling from my drawing practice during the day, I came up with yet a new style to draw in! The colours came out as a nice surprise because I was working in dim church light so it was great to see how vivid the colours came out!

The warm up, the birth of the nose and the dude with the awesome beard!
(NOTE:REALLY HAPPY WITH HIS HANDS!)

Jim Lockey and another artist playing banjo (forgot his name)

HATS! All the same flipping hats!

Bon Appétit! x

New work

[EXPLANATION IN PROGRESS...I'd keep posted it's very interesting!]

All of the above done whilst in Angouleme.

Quick study.

All of the above pages done at the Cheltenham Exposed Club 'Man Ray' evening, 14th March

Page I did as I let myself be influenced by how I felt as I watched Donnie Darko

Quick expressional piece I did as I let myself be influenced by the Borgore remix of 'Sleepyhead'-Passion Pit

The above two are pieces I'm looking at creating into postcards/prints/business cards for self promotional work.
Really happy with them!

Enjoy until I add more detailed wording!

ALSO, follow my Tumblr here!>>>>>This is STISH.
